What needs to be done is asome of these E Bay merchants need to get jerked out of their mom's basement by a big fat court subpeona and hauled in on copyright infringement and intellectual property theft. They need to be sued for all their profits and the pattern needs to continue. The supply side is to blame, the demand side is to blame but in the end the only reason it continues is because there is no consistently enforced penalty for this kind of crap. If ANet started handing out permanent bans and started filing some lawsuits. I mean Machine number bans not just IP address bans. I mean honestly what happens now if I get caught buying or selling items in game? Hypothetically speaking if I wanted to Ebay gold and items what are they going to do? Ban me? I just made at least 50 bucks off the sales. I'll buy a new copy and make a new account. IP ban me? Psssh all I have to do is cancel my cable modem for 24 hours and then they assign me a new IP when I sign back up. There is no real consequence. It's this soft attitude they have taken that has allowed this to proliferate to the point that it has.

This would also mean selective distribution of their product. They would have to stop distributing it in countries that do not recognize the validity of EULA as well as those that do not recognize cyber crime. It's not difficult to pin point the point of origin. It's called Tracert. Sure proxy servers, blah blah blah. Proximity dictates most people's choice of proxy. Particularly for farming. You don't want an unreasonably long ping time between you and your proxy. Even IP Spoofing isn't fool proof now if you want to make a modicum of investment in your tracert software.

The thing I don't really get about all the nerfing is you can farm solo all you want in presearing and make decent amount of gold.I can see selling things on e-bay being wrong but it is like trying to stop the trafficing of narcotics it is a losing war for all Law Enforcement agencies untill ppl stop buying it and same could be said about smoking and drinking. The only way for Anet to win this is to give us what we want better drops as this is suppose to be game for unlocking things.I agree with what one person had to say about drops I have never unlocked a superior rune that I needed although I did get Vigor that was before keys came along. To Ensign what exactly is wrong with 55 it is a credible build more so than any PvP build as they use to use the Fiana boon protect Mo/N with Oob now it is Mo/Mes?

I wonder if MoR will get a nerf if they Keep useing it.I still find mend ailment not as effective as it use to be as I have to hit it twice.I would have to say the 55 is a classic build in a way that just worked well.I am not sure who gets the credit for the 55 but I would certainly give it to jelly samwich who stopped after the nerf to the UW and liked protective bond.If they keep nerfings things more and more will turn to e-bay.

Some stuff was mentioned I'd like to talk about.

1) Weapon Mod Trader is probably the biggest improvement listed in this thread.

I dont know why they didn't add it with Rune/Material/Dye Traders. It seems wholly logical. It can work the same as Runes where you can buy them but to unlock for PvP creation use you have to get it in a drop. Worried about them newly entering a trader and that messing with the market that day...Dont really. This newest trader mixup has people afraid of them. When a Trader is NATURALLY reset or added, it gets to a price range thats reasonably within minutes (the new market boom of people buying the mods will almost instantly get it to an appropiate price).

It doesnt have to offer 10%-20%. Just offer like..a 10% version, 15% version, and 20% version (Or 5% and 10% where its applicable). To save space that is.

Vent is freeware and Anet does not have the server ability to host it and keep GW free. TS would charge Anet an arm and a leg.

Every MMORPH tried to stop "background" programs from running and failed big time. Anet approach is the opposite, since it won't do any good, make it run in windows, full screen, minimized and not bother with swatting at flies.

Really, the purpose of the monk in the game is to heal, protect, smite, etc in a party situation. Spending so much time by yourself, using the same spells over and over and over and over and over and over, merely to benefit yourself, and your accounts worth, isn't really good pve, and does nothing to increase your ability as a healer or bonder for a party of people.

Maybe this is why people say monks suck so much in missions, they've spent too much offtime, working as a 55, getting that build down pat. =P Can't ever seem to find a monk in a mission, but you can fine 50 in Droknars, trying to sell you some overpriced junk. Clearly, the class and the spells are being misused.

Basically, I'd like to see 55 solo'ing eradicated, in all classes and for good.
55 not good for healing you say eh'.
55 gave me 3 sets of fissure armour, the weapons i choose, and more then enought for my friends to benifit. Yes I burnt out but do still occasionally use.
What did my 55 do for my healing monk.lol
it have me over 200 skillpoints and all the weapons and offhands I went thru for each profession i needed before i decided to build a blood powered monk able to gain 18 nrg every 7 seconds 1:2-3 casts as well as maintaining Bloodritual on 2-3 party members as needed.
very little nrg problems at this point and an average 5nrg heal of 167hp without boon!!!
So 55 does have its benifits. Not all are strictly 55 monks.
Its the exploit by these ebay farmers that make this so detrimental to the market and to the honest farmers

I dont know how to directly link to it sorry for that.
I watched the movie nice info. Lets do a math problem shall we?
the lowest gw gold sales on ebay are 307 in the past month. an average of 300k is bought.at 25 dollars which is a low price. then multiply this by 8 sense chinese cash is 8:1 american.
so...
307x25=7675x8=61400in 1 month alone from the smallest "workshop" on ebay
if the smallest shop is say 5 people even though 3 were shown every seller brought home 12280 chinese dollars this month!!!!!!!

Somoeone want to find me a cost of living estimate or do we just plain call them rich and not the poor souls shown in the movie.

now the highest seller has over 2000 sales this month. you do the math.

What this does to the market has ruined the game for new players. and its the exploitation of this i find repulsing if it takes destroying the 55 build to stop an ebayer and restore the market then so be it but please add a trader for sheilds and perfect mods so all items are accessible.

The 55 isn't the only solo build. If that's nerfed, they'll move on. No matter what you do, you'll not just make it harder for the Ebayer to make a profit, but you'll also make it even harder for everyone else to play.

But since everybody is just throwing that to the wind, why stop there? Let's get rid of the botters for good. We should shut down the servers! Who cares if I can't play anymore, at least then I could get to sleep at night.

YEAH, LET'S DO THAT!!

Hello. My name is Thumper and I am a 55 monk...

or maybe

"55 Monks, The Men Who Want to Be Them and the Women Who Love Them"

Yeah...nerf the 55 monk...nerf the 55 monk...nerf...nerf...come on, get a new mantra for crying out loud. Every time I hear someone yelling about nerfing something it is NEVER their build, their skills, or their weapon that they want nerfed. Funny how that works.

Let's nerf SS while we are at it...that whole AoE thing has got to go! 55 necros are taking over the economy! Or is it the 55 monks...?

Sprint and Charge should feel the nerf bat too! Think of all those runners out there making money through the exploitation of noobs and allowing the unwashed lowbie masses to mingle with the Forge elite! And that armor, and those shields! Unfair!

Ok, to make it fair for everyone and to ensure that no one has it better than the next I vote that we be limited to playing lvl 10 W/Mo's without a shield or running skills, naked of course to ensure nobody is hiding an Ogre Slaying blade (unfair!) under that obviously over-powered armor, with one hammer that deals Happy Dmg: 2-8 (req: 1) 15% always with a +20 Feel Good mod, pink of course so we can put those economy-wrecking dye-mixers out of business while we are at it. (Imagine dist 1 Forge without someone running around yelling OMFGZ REAL HOT PINK DYE ~ 231 LEFT ~ MONEY BACK GUARANTEE!!!) You can't can you...

To ensure that no feelings get hurt the drop rate must be changed so that if one person gets a gold drop, everyone gets a gold drop. Everyone! The whole class! And last but not least...the whole damage situation must be changed to ensure no one is traumatized by the death/DP thing. My idea is to have a time-out button on the screen, maybe a happy face on it or something. If your char starts taking too much damage you can hit the button and the mobs are in an ANET approved Time-Out (patent-pending) until your health re-charges and your teammates, who ran away from the fight because of DP-phobia, can wander back mumbling about lag...

I am not a 55 monk in real life but I do play one in GW...I have also been known to whack ettins now and then with my W/Mo...alone.

Mea culpa... *the bat swings*

Mesmer Degen/Poison and other such effects should be able to kill off a 55.

The items you farm do not belong to you nor does the software you purchased belong to you persay. The software and all of its components belong to ANet. You are simply licensed to use them for your own entertainment. The license does not allow for you to make a profit off of their property. Intellectual property laws are difficult to enforce across borders though. Many countries do not recognize many cyber crimes, including intellectual property theft and piracy, as crimes. The only way for them to combat this is to take an aggressive legal stance against the third party sites and to make sure their product is introduced only in areas that recognize these crimes and allow for the collection of civil damages and the pressing of criminal charges.

Another way to stop this is to simply stop buying from them. These people can't operate if there isn't a market. I applaud some of the fansites, such as Ten Ton Hammer, for removing all third party item seller advertising from their sites. I just wish ANet would take a more aggressive stance against it. Legal action costs money but if they could collect a mass settlement just once it would discourage others from entering the racket. I've also suggested a data base query that would track the fields having to do with inventory and gold. Any large ammount being transferred between two people without an exchange of items involved is kind of a dead give away. Before anyone gets up in arms about that let me just say that the quantities of gold being purchased from these sites is larger than anyone would ever need to have at once so the odds of you getting popped for transferring funds to a guildie or a friend are slim. In the end it will take a combined effort of ANet and us as players to stop the abusive farming that is killing the game. How? By simply not buying from these people and by reporting anyone that has. Like I said earlier , if you eliminate the market then the service must cease because of a lack of profit.
This is the most intellectual post I have ever seen on these forums.
You, sir, get a cookie AND a gold star!

ANOTHER excellent post.
2 kudos (1 kudo = exchangeable for a cookie or a gold star)

Why I'm posting this?
If everybody looked at the game in a lighter manner and more objectively, we may realize what the problem really is.
Hint: it's not the fact they're getting max dmg gold uber perfect drops, it's the fact people are BUYING max dmg gold uber perfect drops for so damn much.
